Our company operates 8  of the most individual pub / restaurant / entertainment venues in Britain, plus a theatre. They are totally different to your average pub or restaurant, for lots of reasons. It helps that we are a family firm and completely free of brewers’ ties or any other ‘big company’ restrictions (except for one). We respond fast to changes and give our customers what they want!

We have outlets in Newcastle upon Tyne, Gateshead, Huddersfield, Durham and Liverpool. So, if you are up north,  you are never TOO far away from THE HEAD OF STEAM! (We had an outlet at Euston station, London until August 2005, when we sold it to Fullers.)

We have acquired the CENTRAL HOTEL, Half Moon Lane, Gateshead, NE8 2AN. (0191 4782543). It is to undergo a major renovation project, inside and out. It was closed temporarily to allow work to begin and to change products sold and address staff and other administrative matters. It has now re-opened in its current internal form, but the whole building will be transformed over the coming 8 months or so.

We will be renovating the bars to their Victorian grandeur, converting all the upstairs rooms into 5 'function rooms', useable for almost anything - INCLUDING LIVE MUSIC - and producing some other WOW! factors......

Small-scale live music starting very soon.

The pub now has real ales - along with real ciders and a range of excellent draught world lagers, some unique in Durham. There is already a huge range of world and British bottled beers and soft drinks.
